Along with Ken Bailey, appearing as Bobby Darin and Sydney Thompson, who was Elvis Presley, they all had Stars in Their Eyes for the Manchester Hospital's bid to raise money for research to develop "kinder" and more effective cancer treatment by its centenary in 2001. Other "starts" in the line-up included Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond. All had friend or family who have been helped by Christie's. Julie~Lyn appeared in memory of her late mother-in-law Eileen Whinnerah, of Cheadle Hulme, who was a Christie patient. Sydney and Ken also had their reasons for wanting to help. The show was not televised but a commercial video was made and copies are on sale to further help the hospital. Seven professional and well-known singers took part in the event dreamed up by Waggon and Horses licensee Chris Furber, his wife and committee members. More than 300 were at the event which raised over £1200. Others taking part were Diane Shaw, Dave Diamond, David Cain and John McMullen. CONTACT Julie~Lyn E-mail julie~lyn@julie-lyn.co.uk |
